Makini is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Malton Cook, LPC-Supervisor in Austin, Texas with experience providing therapeutic services with children, adolescents, and adults in a clinical, educational and military setting. Makini has a Master’s of Science in Education specializing in Mental Health Counseling.  She comes with years of experience providing community-based services for children and families, crisis interventions, career counseling, and behavioral training for parent and children. Makini is a multicultural counselor with a holistic approach to providing tools to help clients facing a variety of challenges from depression/ anxiety, trauma, parenting, stress management, school challenges, family conflict, career challenges and more. 

Makini’s approach to therapy generally focuses on using evidence-based treatment including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. She can adapt her approach to each individual person allowing for flexibility in treatment and an increased potential to meet personal goals. As a therapist, her goal is to be able to provide a safe space for people to be able to seek help in ways that best fit their lives and outcomes for themselves, marriage, children, and family.

In her spare time, Makini enjoys singing, cooking, hiking, spending time with her family, and traveling.
